Based in Brussels, the role of the Secretariat is to manage and support the organisation of ECTRI’s activities and is currently composed of:

Caroline ALMERAS

Secretary General

Caroline Alméras is a senior European public affairs specialist with 15 years of experience in EU public relations, legal advising and advocacy. After working several years as a lawyer first at the European Commission (EC) then at the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), she joined the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes (ECTRI) in 2003 as project officer in charge of developing the activities of the association. In 2009, she was recruited as Deputy Director for European and International affairs at the French Institute for Transport Research (INRETS). The year after she was appointed Secretary General of ECTRI. From then, she is responsible for the strategic development, representation and overall management of the Association. Caroline speaks English and French.

Project Officer

Ana Pereira is an Environmental Engineer and holds a Masters Degree in Landscape and Spatial Planning from the University of Evora, in Portugal. Prior to joining ECTRI, Ana did a traineeship with the EMAS service at the European Economic and Social Committee and worked as Programme Officer for ANEC, supporting the activities of the Traffic sector and MarketWatch project. Since September 2015, as Project Officer at ECTRI, she is in charge of the communication, the support to the Members and liaison with external partners and the follow-up of activities and projects of the Association. Project Officer

Justyna Beckmann holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering in Management and protection of the agricultural environment from the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Poland.  Prior to joining ECTRI, Justyna worked as European Advisor for Polish Science Contact Agency in Brussels. She has over 11 years of experience in the field of research framework programmes of the EU, which she gained working among others within the National Contact Point Network for Research Programmes of the EU in Poland. She worked also for the Institute of Agrophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IA PAS) as Specialist for international cooperation in the area of research projects and supported the IA PAS as Administrative Coordinator with management and implementation of the MACSUR project (FP7, FACCE-JPI). Justyna speaks English and Polish and has limited working proficiency in French and German.
